LONDON, Saturday, May 28, 2022 (WAFA) – The United Kingdom today urged restraint in the Israeli army’s use of live fire against Palestinians in the occupied territories. The call came after Israeli soldiers yesterday shot and killed 14-year-old Zaid Ghuneim in the town of al-Khader, south of Bethlehem, the fifth child shot and killed by the unrestrained Israeli army gunfire this month and the 13th since the start of this year. The UK also called on the Israeli authorities “to conduct a swift, transparent and independent investigation” into the killing of Ghuneim. The Israeli prime minister has eased restrictions on his army’s use of live fire against Palestinians in the occupied territories, which resulted in a large number of Palestinians being shot and killed this year by Israeli soldiers, a number that has exceeded 50 so far.
