Israeli High Court rejects appeal for release of hunger-striking prisoner nearing sudden death
RAMALLAH, Monday, November 15, 2021 (WAFA) – The Israeli high court rejected today evening an appeal submitted by the Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs Commission for the immediate release of Palestinian administrative detainee Kayed Fasfous, who is facing the risk of sudden death after 124 days of hunger strike, said the commission in a statement. The Israeli high court rejected today and for the fourth time a petition submitted for the release of Fasfous, amid a state of indifference and deliberate criminal disregard for his life by the Israeli occupation authorities, said the ministry. Fasfous, 34, from the southern West Bank town of Dura, has been on an open-ended hunger strike to demand an end of his indefinite administrative detention without charge or trial by the Israeli occupation authorities. On Saturday, doctors at the Israeli Barzilai Medical Center, where Fasfous is being treated, told his family that their son was nearing sudden death after 122 days of hunger strike. Fasfous is experiencing an intermittent loss of consciousness, irregular heartbeats, tingling in the chest, a decrease in blood pressure, kidney and heart problems, a shortage of fluids in his body, and recurring pains and aches across his body, which makes him vulnerable to a severe relapse. Five Palestinian prisoners remain on hunger strike in Israeli prisons
RAMALLAH, Sunday, November 14, 2021 (WAFA) – Five Palestinian prisoners in Israeli detention currently remain on hunger strike in protest of their unfair and indefinite administrative detention without a charge or trial, according to the Detainees Affairs Commission. The oldest hunger-striker of the seven prisoners is prisoner Kayed Fasfous, who has been on hunger strike for 123 days in protest of his detention without a charge or trial, followed by Alaa Aaraj (99 days), Hesham Abu Hawwash (90 days), Ayyad Hureimi (53 days) and Lo’ai Al-Ashqar (35 days days). Fasfous has been in hospital for nearly two months following serious deterioration in his health conditions. He has been demanding an end of their detention without charge or trial and based on the so-called secret file which even their lawyers are not allowed to view. Yesterday, Fasfous's brother, Hasan, told WAFA that doctors at Barzilai told him that his brother had developed symptoms suggesting a clot in his blood, which is an early warning of the risk of sudden death. He said his brother is also experiencing an intermittent loss of consciousness, irregular heartbeats, tingling in the chest, a decrease in blood pressure, kidney and heart problems, a shortage of fluids in his body and recurring pains and aches across his body. Israel’s widely condemned policy of administrative detention allows the detention of Palestinians without charge or trial for renewable intervals usually ranging between three and six months based on undisclosed evidence that even a detainee’s lawyer is barred from viewing. On Thursday, UN experts expressed grave fear for the lives of the hunger strikers, and called on Israel to either release or charge the prisoners, and to completely end its unlawful practice of administrative detention. "In violation of international law, Israel continues to use administrative detention to imprison more than 500 Palestinians -- including six children -- without charges, without trials, without convictions, all based on classified secret information that the detainees have no access to," the experts said. "They have no recourse to challenging these undisclosed allegations, and they do not know when, or if, they are going to be released." Currently, Israel is holding over 450 Palestinians in administrative detention, deemed illegal by international law, most of them former prisoners who spent years in prison for their resistance of the Israeli occupation. Over the years, Israel has placed thousands of Palestinians in administrative detention for prolonged periods of time, without trying them, without informing them of the charges against them, and without allowing them or their counsel to examine the evidence. Israeli repression units raid a section of Palestinian detainees in Nafha
RAMALLAH, Sunday, November 14, 2021 (WAFA) – Israeli repression units early today morning raided section 13 in the Israeli prison of Nafha, in the Naqab desert, where Palestinian political detainees are incarcerated, and brutally assaulted and humiliated them, according to the Palestinian Authority’s Detainees Affairs Commission. Hasan Abed Rabbo, a spokesman for the Commission, said Israeli repression forces attacked the rooms of the Palestinian prisoners while the prisoners were inside, beat them up and destroyed and sabotaged their belongings. He said the prisoners, in response, shut down all sections in the prison in a protest measure. Tensions in the Israeli prisons have remained high since a dramatic breakout on September 6 when six Palestinian freedom fighters tunneled out of Gilboa Prison. The six have been recaptured. The Israeli occupation authorities are incarcerating more than 4,500 Palestinian and Arab prisoners for resisting the Israeli occupation of their homeland. In recent years, Palestinian prisoners in Israeli detention have launched multiple strikes to demand better imprisonment conditions, including an end to the unjustified Israeli policy of raiding prisoners' sections. On Thursday, the Palestinian Authority’s Commission for Detainees Affairs submitted a petition to the Israeli high court demanding the immediate release of Fasfous and the annulment of his administrative detention order. Israel’s widely condemned policy of administrative detention allows the detention of Palestinians without charge or trial for renewable intervals usually ranging between three and six months based on undisclosed evidence that even a detainee’s lawyer is barred from viewing. Palestinian, international musicians call for a boycott of Israel’s ‘oud festival’ in occupied Jerusalem
JERUSALEM, Wednesday, November 17, 2021 (WAFA) – A group of Palestinian and international musicians called in a statement for a total boycott of Israel’s now annual ‘oud festival’ in occupied Jerusalem and stand against normalization with a regime aiming to colonize Palestine’s capital in its entirety. The oud, as the quintessential stringed instrument of Palestinian and Arab world music culture, is being appropriated by a Zionist state whose history is based on the erasure and theft of indigenous livelihoods, said the boycott statement. As the Israeli ‘Jerusalem Municipality’ re-launches its musical PR projects with the easing of certain coronavirus restrictions, Palestinians in Jerusalem are fighting tooth and nail against the accelerating land-grab of Sheikh Jarrah and swathes of the land east of their city. Palestinian performing artists are attacked or imprisoned, while broader communities of the displaced face the terror of aerial destruction of their cultural centers and systematic underdevelopment of their means of production, it said. The ‘oud festival’ signifies the culture-washing of the crimes of Israeli colonization. As such we stand against all Palestinian and international participation. With very few exceptions, the festival organizers have failed abjectly in recruiting Palestinian and Arab musicians to collude in a humiliating display of Israeli-dictated ‘coexistence.’ This reflects the grassroots opposition of Palestine’s rejectionist artists, distinct from the elite displays of treachery seen at Dubai Expo and other platforms of Zionist and Arab capitalist collaboration. We must build on the revolutionary potential of Palestinian musicians’ anti-normalization commitment and expose to the world the Zionist political roots of these cultural phenomena, added the statement. “Live events at the festival are convened by Haim Gouri Zionist Confederation House, founded upon Jerusalem’s colonial conquest and named after a former member of the Palmach, which carried out 1948 massacres including at Sa’sa’ and al-Dawamiya. Since its foundation, the festival has been sponsored by Zionist mayors, who play a particular role in boosting its presence. Current rightist mayor Moshe Lion claimed in 2019 that the festival was a way of ‘establishing dialogue,’ while simultaneously supporting the US Trump administration’s moving of its embassy to Jerusalem as ‘the only fitting location for embassies in the state of Israel.’ In May 2021 he described the Zionist colonization of Sheikh Jarrah as a ‘property dispute’ and blamed Palestinians for ‘igniting violence.’ As we write this statement, Israeli courts are attempting to force Sheikh Jarrah families into accepting ‘temporary ownership’ of their homes by a Zionist settler organization.” “Israel’s seemingly impulsive massacres upon Palestinians in Gaza and its operations across historic Palestine carry the constant threat of cultural obliteration, like the May 2021 destruction of Mashariq studio in Ansar or the August 2018 bombing of the Said al-Mashal theatre. In occupied Jerusalem, Sabreen studios and the Hakawati theatre face existential threats due to Zionisation of the city. Performers like orchestral bassist Mariam Afifi and al-Funoun choreographer Atta Khattab have faced the prison cells of the Zionist attack squads.” In the face of these crimes, and in the hands of those who struggle, the oud becomes a tool of anti-racist, anti-colonial liberation. Revolutionary protest singers from Jerusalemite Palestinian Mustafa al-Kurd to Egypt’s Sheikh Imam have resounded their oud for Palestine. Calling for a boycott of the Zionist ‘oud festival’ means a defense of indigenous expression, a stand against normalization, and intensifying the boycott and isolation of the Zionist state, said the statement. Israel uses settler violence to take over West Bank land, says Israeli rights group
RAMALLAH, Sunday, November 14, 2021 (WAFA) – Israeli human rights group B'Tselem published a new report today showing how Israel has used settler violence against Palestinians to misappropriate more than 28,000 dunams of West Bank farmland and pastureland that served Palestinian communities for many decades. In the new report, B'Tselem shows that settler violence is not a private initiative, but rather an unofficial branch of the state violence Israel uses to expel Palestinians from their land. Attributing the violence to young fundamentalists or to “rotten apples” while keeping up a pretense of law enforcement allows Israel the best of both worlds: maintain a comfortable space for “plausible deniability” and enjoy the outcome of the violence by taking over swaths of land in the West Bank. The report illustrates how settler violence has complemented official methods by helping Israel take over farmland and pastureland that, for many decades, served Palestinian communities in five areas: shepherding communities in Masafer Yatta in the South Hebron Hills, in the southwestern Hebron Hills and in the Jordan Valley, and established villages west of Ramallah and west of Nablus. According to the report, the state has dispossessed these communities of thousands of dunams by using settler violence. In some areas, this has been carried out explicitly by the military closing off swaths of land or requiring Palestinians to request advance permission to access their own land. In others, farmers and shepherds stay away for fear of encountering settlers who will assault them. In testimonies given to B'Tselem field researchers, residents described how the violence and fear threatening the continued existence of their communities, driving them – for lack of choice – to abandon or scale back types of work they relied on for decades, forcing them stay away from pastureland and water sources that used to serve them, and limiting their cultivation of farmland. “The apartheid regime is based on organized, systemic violence against Palestinians carried out by numerous agents: the government, the military, the Civil Administration, the Supreme Court, the Israel Police, the Israel Security Agency, the Israel Prison Service, the Israel Nature and Parks Authority and others. Settlers are yet another function on this list,” said the Israeli rights group. “Like the violence employed against Palestinians by the military and the bureaucracy, settler violence is organized, institutionalized, well-equipped and implemented in order to achieve a defined strategic goal.” M.N - [Ref] - [Visit This Page]

Palestinian prisoner dies in Israeli jails due to medical negligence
RAMALLAH, Thursday, November 18, 2021 (WAFA) – Palestinian prisoner Sami al-Amour Thursday morning died in Israeli jails due to deliberate medical negligence, according to the Palestinian Prisoner's Society (PPS). PPS said in a press statement said that the al-Amour, 39, a resident of Deir al-Balah city in the Gaza Strip, died in his prison cell this morning as a result of systematic intentional medical negligence at the time he was in custody. It added that al-Amour was detained in 2008 and sentenced to 19 years of imprisonment, during which he was denied family visits. He suffered from a congenital heart disease, but the Israeli deliberate medical negligence and harsh detention conditions caused a serious deterioration in his health. He was transferred several days ago from the Nafha Prison to Asqalan Prison, before being transferred to the Soroka Medical Center, where he underwent two surgeries before being declared dead. PPS held the Israeli occupation authorities fully responsible for al-Amour’s death as the Israeli Prison Service (ISP) maintains a systematic policy of medical negligence against Palestinian prisoners, the same policy which caused the death of other prisoners, most prominently Hussein Masalma and cancer-stricken prisoner Kamal Abu Wa‘er. It urged legal and human rights groups to take serious and immediate action to ensure the release of all ailing Palestinians from Israeli prisons and ensure that prisoners are offered adequate medical treatment. Al-Amour’s death brings the total number of prisoners who died in Israeli imprisonment since the start of the Israeli occupation of the West Bank and Gaza in June 1967 to 227, including 72 prisoners who died due to medical negligence. IPS continued to withheld the bodies of seven prisoners. According to Palestinian figures, roughly 4,650 Palestinians, including 34 women and some 160 minors, are currently languishing in Israeli detention facilities. Israeli settlers attack Land Settlement Authority staff northeast of Hebron
HEBRON, Wednesday, November 17, 2021 (WAFA) - Settlers, accompanied by Israeli soldiers, attacked today evening staff of the Land Settlement Authority while they were working in Ash-Shuyukh town to the northeast of Hebron, in the southern occupied West Bank, said WAFA correspondent. A group of settlers from the nearby illegal Israeli settlement of Asfar, attacked with stones and clubs staff of the Land Settlement Authority while they were conducting a land survey in the Ash-Shuyukh town, causing one engineer injuries to the head. Israeli soldiers stood idly by and did nothing to stop the settlers. Israeli settler violence against Palestinians and their property is commonplace in the West Bank and is rarely prosecuted by Israeli authorities. T.R. - [Ref] - [Visit This Page]

Israeli authorities ban all construction work in Bethlehem-area neighborhood
BETHLEHEM, Wednesday, November 17, 2021 (WAFA) – The Israeli occupation authorities ordered today to stop construction and all forms of work in the Abu Sud neighborhood in the town of al-Khader, south of the occupied West Bank city of Bethlehem, according to activist Ahmed Salah. He told WAFA forces stormed the Abu Sud area and handed a local resident a notice banning construction or making any changes in the area, comprising a surface area of 100 dunums. The aforementioned area has been subjected to settlers' attacks for years, during which several houses were demolished, some of which were demolished numerous times. Since the start of the Israeli occupation of the West Bank in 1967, like so many other villages in Palestine, al-Khader has been subjected to almost continual land theft for Israeli settlements, bypass roads, and military installations. Israeli settlers attack Palestinian vehicles near Ramallah with stones
RAMALLAH, Wednesday, November 17, 2021 (WAFA) – Israeli settlers attacked with stones Palestinian vehicles passing near the entrance of the illegal Israeli settlement of Beit El, northeast of the occupied West Bank city of Ramallah. Eyewitnesses told WAFA dozens of settlers gathered along the road connecting the village of Burqa and Turmusaya town, to the east and north of Ramallah, respectively, and attacked Palestinian-registered vehicles with stones, causing damages to several cars. No injuries were reported. Extremist Israeli settlers’ violence against Palestinians and their property is routine in the West Bank and is rarely prosecuted by Israeli authorities. Settlers' violence includes property and mosque arsons, stone-throwing, uprooting of crops and olive trees, attacks on vulnerable homes, among others. Between 500,000 and 600,000 Israelis live in Jewish-only settlements across occupied East Jerusalem and the West Bank in violation of international law. All settlements across the West Bank are illegal under international law, particularly article 49 of the Fourth Geneva Convention, which establishes that the occupying power shall not deport or transfer parts of its own civilian population into the territory it occupies. Israeli forces notify to demolish agricultural shacks near Jerusalem
JERUSALEM, Wednesday, November 17, 2021 (WAFA) – Israeli authorities notified today of its intentions to demolish two agricultural shacks belonging to Palestinian residents in the village of al-Issawiya in the occupied city of Jerusalem, according to local sources. Sources told WAFA that forces delivered two notices ordering the demolition of two shacks that belong to local residents Naser Obaid and Ahmad Abdel-Nabi Earlier today, Israeli forces dismantled and seized Palestinian structures near az-Za'ayyem village, east of the occupied city of Jerusalem. Palestinians in occupied Jerusalem say they are forced to build without permits because the Israeli municipality rarely issues permits to the city’s original Palestinian citizens as a way to reduce their number by forcing them to leave it and find accommodation and work elsewhere. Israeli forces dismantle, seize structures near Jerusalem-district town
JERUSALEM, Wednesday, November 17, 2021 (WAFA) – Israeli forces today dismantled and seized Palestinian structures near az-Za'ayyem village, east of the occupied city of Jerusalem, according to local sources. Director of the village municipality, Mohammad Abu-Zayad, said that Israeli forces cordoned al-Saidi herding community, close to the village, where they dismantled two residential structures, each of which occupied 120 square meters, in addition to five sheep shelters, and seized the structures using a crane truck. Israel demolishes Palestinian houses and structures almost on a daily basis as a means to achieve to advance the forcible displacement and transfer of Palestinians in the occupied territories, including the herding communities on the edge of Jerusalem. Israel denies planning permits for Palestinians to build on their own land or to extend existing houses to accommodate natural growth, particularly in Jerusalem and Area C, which constitutes 60 percent of the occupied West Bank and falls under full Israeli military rule, forcing residents to build without obtaining rarely-granted permits to provide shelters for their families. In contrast, Israel argues that building within existing colonial settlements is necessary to accommodate the “natural growth” of settlers. Therefore, it much more easily gives the over 700,000 Jewish Israeli settlers there building permits and provides them with roads, electricity, water and sewage systems that remain inaccessible to many neighboring Palestinians. Israeli forces detain 14 Palestinians from West Bank
RAMALLAH, Wednesday, November 17, 2021 (WAFA) – Israeli forces Wednesday overnight detained 14 Palestinians from various parts of the West Bank, according to local and security sources. They said that Israeli forces rounded up four Palestinians after breaking into and searching their houses in Bil‘in village, west of Ramallah. In the northern West Bank, Israeli soldiers detained two others after ransacking the houses of their families in Jaba‘ town, south of Jenin. They raided the southern neighborhood of Tulkarm city, and re-arrested a former prisoner. Still in the northern West Bank, the sources confirmed a similar raid in Sanniriya town, south of Qalqiliya, resulting in the detention of another. Gun-toting soldiers barged their way into the al-Masaken al-Shabiya neighborhood of Nablus, where they detained Anas Osta, the chairman of the board of directors of Qamat for Documenting the Palestinian Struggle, a CSO that documents the history of the Palestinian struggle. In Jerusalem, Israeli police detained two others; one from al-Issawiya neighborhood and the other from Silwan neighborhood. In Bethlehem district, soldiers detained a 17-year-old teen after ransacking his parents’ house in al-Ibayyat village, east of the city. In Hebron district, the sources added that two others were detained; one from the southern part of Hebron city and the other from Deir Samet village, southwest of the city. Israeli forces frequently raid Palestinian houses almost on a daily basis across the West Bank on the pretext of searching for "wanted" Palestinians, triggering clashes with residents. These raids, which take place also in areas under the full control of the Palestinian Authority, are conducted with no need for a search warrant, whenever and wherever the military chooses in keeping with its sweeping arbitrary powers. Under Israeli military law army commanders have full executive, legislative and judicial authority over 3 million Palestinians living in the West Bank. Palestinians have no say in how this authority is exercised. K.F. - [Ref] - [Visit This Page]

Israeli settlers attack Palestinians near Nablus with stones, injuries reported
NABLUS, Monday, November 15, 2021 (WAFA) – Israeli settlers attacked today Palestinian farmers near the village of Burqa to the north of Nablus, in the northern occupied West Bank, injuring at least three people, according to a local activist. Ghassan Daghlas, who monitors Israeli settlement activities in the north of the West Bank, said Israeli settlers attacked with stones Palestinian farmers while they were in their land in the village of Burqa, injuring at least three people. One of the farmers was hit in the face with a stone, and another was injured after being struck in the head, while the third farmer sustained bruises. Settlers also pelted Palestinian vehicles driving on Jenin-Nablus road with stones, causing severe damages to at least four cars. No injuries were reported. Israeli settlers’ vandalism in the occupied West Bank is routine and is done with full backing by the Israeli authorities, said the Israeli human rights group B’Tselem. "Settler violence and vandalism take place with full backing by the Israeli authorities. Sometimes soldiers take part in the assault; at other times, they stand idly by. The police makes no substantial effort to investigate the incidents, nor takes measures to prevent them or stop them in real time," it said. Israel benefits from the repercussions, as settler violence has gradually dispossessed Palestinians of more and more areas in the West Bank, paving the way for a state takeover of land and resources, said B’Tselem. Occupation forces detain five Palestinians in West Bank
HEBRON, Sunday, November 14, 2021 (WAFA) – Israeli occupation forces last night detained five Palestinians during nightly raids in the occupied West Bank districts of Hebron and Ramallah, local and Palestinian security sources said. Israeli settler shoots, injures a Palestinian in Jerusalem’s Ras Al-Amud
JERUSALEM, Saturday, November 13, 2021 (WAFA) – A Palestinian young man sustained injuries from gunfire today after he was shot by an Israeli settler in the occupied Jerusalem neighborhood of Ras Al-Amud, according to witnesses. The witnesses told WAFA that scores of Israeli settlers accompanied by an Israeli Police escort broke into the neighborhood, and that one of the settlers who was armed with a rifle opened gunfire at Palestinian civilians there, injuring one of them in his hand. The wounded young man was moved to hospital for medical treatment. In the meantime, colonial Israeli settlers hurled stones at Palestinian vehicles at Za’tara checkpoint, south of the city of Nablus in the occupied West Bank. No injuries were reported. Over the past two months, Israeli settlers have committed violent daily attacks against Palestinian communities and civilians. Settler violence and vandalism in the occupied territories is almost a daily occurrence, and attacks by settlers are rarely prosecuted by Israeli occupation authorities. Over 500,000 Israelis live in Jewish-only settlements across occupied East Jerusalem and the West Bank in violation of international law. M.N - [Ref] - [Visit This Page]

Israeli bulldozers uproot scores of fruitful trees north of Hebron
HEBRON, Friday, November 12, 2021 (WAFA) – Israeli bulldozers today uprooted dozens of fruitful trees in Beit Ummar town, north of Hebron, according to local sources. Mohammad Awad, a media activist, said that Israeli forces used a bulldozer to razed a five-donum plot of land planted with over 130 trees belonging to the Ba‘ran and Sabarna families to make room for the expansion of the encroaching nearby colonial settlement of Karmei Tzur. He added that the Palestinian landowners have title deeds proving their ownership of the plot, which in fenced in the colonial settlement. There are over 700,000 Israeli settlers living in colonial settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem in violation of international law. The number of settlers has almost tripled since the Oslo Accords of 1993, when settlers’ number estimated 252,000. Illegal colonial settlements have leapt from 144 to 515 in that time. Israel’s nation-state law that passed last July stated that building and strengthening settlements as a “national interest.” K.F. - [Ref] - [Visit This Page]

Several people injured in Israeli army crackdown on weekly Kufr Qaddoum protest
QALQILIA, Friday, November 12, 2021 (WAFA) – Two Palestinian youth were shot and injured and dozens of others suffocated by tear gas as Israeli forces quelled a peaceful anti-settlement demonstration in the village of Kufr Qaddoum, east of Qalqilia, the occupied West Bank, said a local activist. The coordinator of the popular resistance committee in the village of Kufr Qaddoum, Murab Shtawi, said Israeli forces fired rubber-coated steel bullets and shot teargas canisters at the protesters causing the two injuries, who were taken to hospital, as well as the suffocation of dozens others from inhaling the tear gas. The resident of Kuf Qaddoum also rallied to mark the 17th-anniversary of the death of late president Yasser Arafat. They also rally to protest Israel’s closure of the main road that connects the village of Kufr Qaddoum with the city of Nablus since 2003. "Before 2003, the residents of Kufr Qaddum would use a shorter road to the east in order to come and go to nearby cities and villages. However, as the settlements expanded so that they overwhelmed the road, it became closed for Palestinian use, said Addameer Human Rights Association. The only alternative road is roughly six times longer than the previous route, disrupting the villagers’ ability to attend university, their jobs, and other vital aspects of their economic and social well-being, noted Addameer. "Three Palestinian deaths relating to the road’s closure occurred between 2004 and 2005," it said. Although Kufr Qaddum’s Popular Resistance Committee took their case to the Israeli High Court in 2003, the legal status of the road remains unchanged, stressed Addameer. After all legal appeals failed, villagers decided to organize weekly demonstrations in July 2011, a step that was met with violent suppression by Israeli forces. T.R. - [Ref] - [Visit This Page]

Israel razes car parts store south of Hebron
HEBRON, Thursday, November 11, 2021 (WAFA) – The Israeli occupation authorities today razed a Palestinian car parts store in al-Harayeq area, south of Hebron, according to local sources. Ahmad Salahab, a resident of the area, said that Israeli forces escorted a bulldozer into the area, where the heavy machinery tore down his 600-square-meter car parts store, purportedly for being close to the nearby encroaching colonial settlement of Beit Hagai. The city of Hebron, which houses the Ibrahimi Mosque, is home to roughly 160,000 Palestinian Muslims and about 800 Israeli settlers who live in compounds heavily guarded by Israeli troops. Israel has expelled the only international monitors protecting Hebron’s Palestinians from 800 heavily guarded settlers, one of whom committed the 1994 massacre that triggered their deployment. Israel demolishes Palestinian houses and structures almost on a daily basis as a means to achieve “demographic control” of the occupied territories. Therefore, it much more easily gives the over 700,000 Jewish Israeli settlers there building permits and provides them with roads, electricity, water and sewage systems that remain inaccessible to many neighboring Palestinians. sraeli forces detain ten Palestinians from West Bank
RAMALLAH, Thursday, November 11, 2021 (WAFA) – Israeli forces Thursday overnight detained ten Palestinians from various parts of the West Bank, according to local and security sources. They said that Israeli forces rounded up a Palestinian after ransacking the house of his parents in Meithalun town, south of the northern West Bank city of Jenin. Israeli police rounded up three others, including two former prisoners, while the latter were in Israel. The detainees were identified as residents of Silat al-Harithiya village, northwest of Jenin. In Nablus district, the sources confirmed a military raid in Urif village, south of the city, resulting in the detention of two others. In the southern West Bank, Israeli forces barged their way into Surif town, north of Hebron, where they re-arrested a former prisoner. They conducted a similar raid in Dura city, southwest of Hebron, resulting in re-arresting another. Gun-toting soldiers detained two others from Idhna and Halhul towns, west and north of Hebron, where they forcibly entered and searched several houses, turning them topsy-turvy.

Four Palestinians injured in settler attack south of Hebron
HEBRON, Thursday, November 11, 2021 (WAFA) – Israeli settlers Wednesday evening attacked Palestinians with live fire in Khallet al-Dabe‘h village, south of Hebron, injuring four, according to local and human rights sources. Coordinator of the Anti-Wall and Settlement Popular Committees, Rateb Jabour, said that Israeli settlers attacked with live fire and rocks Palestinians who gathered in response to the construction of an Israeli colonial settlement outpost in Khallet al-Dabe‘h, one of Masafer Yatta hamlets, injuring four. He added that among the casualties were two who were injured with live rounds in their hands and another who sustained bruises due to severe beating. Meanwhile, the Alliance for Human Rights, a group of activists allied to document human rights abuses in Palestine, said that five Palestinians were injured by live rounds in the attack, while pointing that the settlers burned the Palestinians’ tent. “It appears that US Congress peoples’ promises to “watch” and make sure that no violence occurred this weekend was taken as a challenge by local Israeli settlers. Settlers continue to act with impunity, protected by the IDF, as they use violence against Palestinians to make increasingly aggressive land grabs. They are funded by “charities” in the US, the Good Shepherds Collective, an organization dedicated to nonviolent resistance, said. Masafer Yatta is a collection of almost 19 hamlets which rely heavily on animal husbandry as the main source of livelihood. Located in Area C of the West Bank, under full Israeli administrative and military control, the area has been subjected to repeated Israeli violations by settlers and soldiers targeting their main source of living - livestock. It has been designated as a closed Israeli military zone for training since 1980s and accordingly referred to as Firing Zone 918. Israeli violations against the area include demolition of animal barns, homes and residential structures. Issuance of construction permits by Israel to local Palestinians in the area is non-existent. Settler violence against Palestinians and their property is routine in the West Bank and is rarely prosecuted by Israeli authorities. Settler violence includes property and mosque arsons, stone-throwing, uprooting of crops and olive trees, attacks on vulnerable homes, among others. RAMALLAH, Wednesday, November 10, 2021 (WAFA) – Israeli forces Wednesday overnight and Tuesday evening detained 13 Palestinians from various parts of the West Bank, according to local and security sources. They said that Israeli forces rounded up two Palestinians from Beit Ur al-Tahta village, west of Ramallah city. The soldiers also rounded up four others after breaking into and searching their houses in Jabal al-Tawil neighborhood of the neighboring city of al-Bireh. In the northern West Bank, the soldiers re-arrested a former prisoner after ransacking his house in Meithalun town, south of Jenin, as confirmed by Director of the Palestine Prisoner’s Society (PPS) Office, Muntaser Samour. In the southern West Bank, the sources confirmed a predawn raid in Bethlehem city, resulting in the detention of another. Soldiers re-arrested a former prisoner and forcibly entered his house in Husan village, west of the city, turning it topsy-turvy. Still in Bethlehem district, gun-toting soldiers rounded up a 16-year-old teen during confrontations at the entrance of Husan village, west of the city. As confrontations were going on, the soldiers opened fire towards local teens, injuring one by a round in the thigh. The casualty was rushed to a hospital for urgent treatment. In Hebron district, Israeli military vehicles stormed Dura town, south of the city, where the soldiers re-arrested two former prisoners and searched several houses. They also barged their way into al-Fawwar refugee camp, southwest of the city, and re-arrested another former prisoner. Meanwhile, a caucus of Palestinian human rights organizations said that Israeli forces detained 467 Palestinians, including 135 minors and 10 women, in October 2021. According to the caucus, which comprises the Prisoners’ Affairs Commission, PPS, the Prisoner Support and Human Rights Association (Addameer) and the Wadi Hilweh Information Center, roughly 4,650 Palestinians, including 160 minors, 34 women and some 500 prisoners placed under administrative detention, are currently languishing in Israeli detention facilities. Israeli forces frequently raid Palestinian houses almost on a daily basis across the West Bank on the pretext of searching for "wanted" Palestinians, triggering clashes with residents. Israeli authorities demolish inside of a Palestinian-owned house, balcony of another in occupied Jerusalem
JERUSALEM, Wednesday, November 10, 2021 (WAFA) – The Israeli occupation authorities today demolished the inside of a Palestinian-owned house in Wad al-Joz area of occupied East Jerusalem and issued a demolition order for the entire house. At the same, Israelis demolished the balcony of another house in Beit Safafa neighborhood, local sources said. The sources told WAFA that Israeli occupation forces, accompanied by staff from the Israeli municipality of West Jerusalem, broke into the house of Mahmoud Jaber, who is currently serving a 32-month prison term in Israel for resisting its occupation, destroyed the inside of the house before handing the family a demolition order for the entire house under the pretext of construction without a permit. Aida, Jaber’s mother, said that the Israeli forces have begun demolishing the house from the inside before they were stopped and threatened to demolish it completely and force the family to pay 100,000 Israeli shekels ($32,200) in costs if the family does not carry out the demolition itself. Meanwhile, the Israeli occupation authorities demolished the balcony of another Palestinian-owned house in Beit Safafa neighborhood, south of Jerusalem. Local sources told WAFA that the occupation forces stormed the area where the house is located and demolished the 40-square meter balcony under the pretext it was added to the existing house without a permit. On August 17, the Israeli occupation authorities demolished a nursery adjacent to the same house of the demolished balcony, also under the pretext of building without a permit. Israel razes livestock barn south of Bethlehem
BETHLEHEM, Tuesday, November 09, 2021 (WAFA) – Israeli occupation authorities today razed a livestock barn in al-Khader town, south of Bethlehem, according to local sources. Ahmad Salah, a local activist, said that Israeli forces escorted a bulldozer to al-Suwaneh area in the southwestern section of the town, where the heavy machinery tore down a livestock barn belonging to Mohammad Sbeih, purportedly for being built without a license. Located 4 kilometers to the west of Bethlehem city, al-Khader has a population of some 12,500 and occupies a total area of 8,280 dunams. Under the Oslo Accords, an agreement made 25 years ago that was supposed to last just five years towards a self-governing country alongside Israel, the Palestinian Authority was given limited control over a small pocket of land occupying some 1,200dunams, accounting for almost 14.5 percent of the village’s total area. In contrast, Israel maintains control over the remainder, classified as Area C. Since the start of the Israeli occupation of the West Bank in 1967, like so many other villages in Palestine, al-Khader has been subjected to almost continual land theft for Israeli settlements, bypass roads, and military installations. Israel has constructed Efrat and NeveDaniyyel colonial settlements on an area of 6,329 dunums of Palestinian land, including a portion confiscated from al-Khader. It has also constructed a section of the apartheid wall, isolating some 5,620 dunums of the town’s land for colonial settlement activities and pushing the villagers into a crowded enclave, a ghetto, surrounded by walls, settlements and military installations. It has confiscated more land for the construction of a tunnel and a crossing, controlling Palestinian movement from Bethlehem city and the western countryside villages. Israeli settlers vandalize Palestinian vehicles in al-Bireh
AL-BIREH, Tuesday, November 9, 2021 (WAFA) –Israeli settlers today vandalized several Palestinian vehicles in the West Bank city of al-Bireh, according to local sources. They told WAFA that a group of settlers punctured the tires of three vehicles and spray-painted hate graffiti on them after sneaking their way into the industrial zone in the city, close to Ramallah. The vehicles were daubed with the Hebrew phrase “price tag” — a slogan used by an underground anti-Palestinian Israeli group that routinely attacks Palestinians in the occupied territories and inside Israel. Following the settler act of vandalism, Israeli forces stormed and cordoned off the area as soldiers occupied the rooftops of several houses. The Israeli government still refuses to label it as a terrorist organization and considers it only as group of vandals. Settler violence against Palestinians and their property is routine in the West Bank and is rarely prosecuted by Israeli authorities. Settler violence includes property and mosque arsons, stone-throwing, uprooting of crops and olive trees, attacks on vulnerable homes, among others.
