Israeli bulldozers demolish two-storey building in Jerusalem-district town
RAMALLAH, Wednesday, May 25, 2022 (WAFA) – The Israeli occupation authorities today demolished a two-storey Palestinian building in Beit Safafa town, south of Jerusalem, according to WAFA correspondent. She said that a sizable police force barged their way into the town, surrounded the two-storey building of Mohammad Judeh and Yazid Tina before a bulldozer razed it, reducing it to rubble and displacing two families comprising 13 members. She added that the first storey consisted of a 500-square-meter parking lot and the second storey consisted two apartments, each of which covered an area of 120 square meters. The owner of one of the apartments, Judeh, said that he has submitted several appeals to the court against the demolition of his apartment. In the first time, Judeh paid 30,000 shekels (some $9,000) and the demolition order was cancelled. However, the order was reinstated later on and he had to pay 50,000 shekels (some $15,000) and the order was put off until September. One lady appears in a video posted on the Facebook page of the Wadi Hilweh Information Center explaining that police leading dogs forcibly entered Judeh’s apartment, handcuffed and led him to a police vehicle, without allowing him the chance to show them the construction license or relevant legal documents to defend his case. Judeh’s wife, Widad, appears in the same video saying that police suddenly carried out the demolition without any prior notice to the family and affirming that they have a construction license. She was bringing her child from a nearby kindergarten when police denied her entry to the apartment. Using the pretext of illegal building, Israel demolishes houses on a regular basis to restrict Palestinian expansion in occupied Jerusalem. At the same time, the municipality and government build tens of thousands of housing units in illegal settlements in East Jerusalem for Jews with a goal to offset the demographic balance in favor of the Jewish settlers in the occupied city. Although Palestinians in East Jerusalem, a part of the internationally recognized Palestinian Territory that has been subject to Israeli military occupation since 1967, they are denied their citizenship rights and are instead classified only as "residents" whose permits can be revoked if they move away from the city for more than a few years. They are also discriminated against in all aspects of life including housing, employment and services, and are unable to access services in the West Bank due to the construction of Israel's separation wall. According to a report by the Israeli human rights group B’Tselem, the Israeli High Court could be liable for war crimes for their policies that led to the dispossession of Palestinians from their properties in Area C of the West Bank. The report, Fake Justice, shows that the court’s support of Israeli planning policy is tantamount to support for dispossession and forcible transfer of Palestinians, a war crime under international law. Palestinian sustain shrapnel injury from Israeli military gunfire south of Nablus
NABLUS, Wednesday, May 25, 2022 (WAFA) – A Palestinian Wednesday afternoon sustained a shrapnel injury from Israeli military gunfire in Huwara town, south of Nablus, according to medical sources. Director of the Palestinian Red Crescent's (PRC) Emergency Department, Ahmad Jibril, said that a young man sustained injuries in the elbow from the shrapnel of bullets fired by Israeli forces in confrontations in the northern West Bank town. Six others suffocated from tear gas inhalation. The confrontations broke out when a group of settlers, under the protection of heavily-armed soldiers, stormed the town and hoisted Israeli flags in the main street. Similar confrontations recently took place when settlers, under military protection, or the Israeli military took down the Palestine flags hoisted on electrical poles in town. The cluster of villages and towns in Nablus district has been a scene of frequent settler attacks, including chopping down dozens of olive trees, attacking vulnerable houses, leveling farmlands and torching mosques. There are over 800,000 Israeli settlers living in colonial settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem. K.F. - [Ref] - [Visit This Page]

60-year-old among 31 Palestinians detained from West Bank
RAMALLAH, Thursday, May 26, 2022 (WAFA) – Israeli forces Thursday overnight detained 31 Palestinians, including a 60-year-old man and at least two minors, in large-scale raids across the West Bank, according to local and security sources. They said that Israeli forces rounded up a Palestinian after breaking into and searching his family house in Silwad town, northeast of the central West Bank city of Ramallah. The soldiers rounded up another after ransacking his family house in Ramallah city. In Nablus district, gun-toting soldiers showed up at a house in Huwara town, south of Nablus, and re-arrested a former prisoner. The town has recently become a scene of confrontations with Israeli settlers, who, under military protection, storm the town to hoist Israeli flags or take down Palestine flags on electrical poles in the main street. Elsewhere in the northern West Bank, Israeli forces detained six others, including a 60-year-old man, after forcibly entering the houses of their families in Qalqiliya city. In Jenin district, the soldiers manning the intermittently staffed Ya‘bad checkpoint, also known as Mevo Dotan, stopped and detained three others, including a former prisoners. In the southern West Bank, the heavily-armed soldiers forcibly entered a number of houses in Sa‘ir town, east of Hebron, woke up all the residents, turned the houses topsy-turvy, and detained nine others, including three fathers along with their minor children. They conducted a raid in Yatta town, south of Hebron, and detained two others. The sources confirmed a similar raid in Bani Na‘im, east of the city, resulting in the detention of three others, including two brothers. Meanwhile, police rounded up five others and ransacked the houses of their families across Jerusalem, turning them upside down. On Wednesday evening, the soldiers rounded up another from Masafer Yatta in the southern West Bank district of Hebron after settlers, under military protection, assaulted and chased herders in Ein al-Beida, one of the communities making up Masafer Yatta. Police also detained another, who serves as Waqf guard and is a chronic patient, after beating him in the vicinity of Bab al-Amoud. Israeli forces frequently raid Palestinian houses almost on a daily basis across the West Bank on the pretext of searching for "wanted" Palestinians, triggering clashes with residents. These raids, which take place also in areas under the full control of the Palestinian Authority, are conducted with no need for a search warrant, whenever and wherever the military chooses in keeping with its sweeping arbitrary powers. Under Israeli military law army commanders have full executive, legislative and judicial authority over 3 million Palestinians living in the West Bank. Palestinians have no say in how this authority is exercised. According to the latest figures from Addameer, the Palestinian Prisoner Support and Human Rights Association, there are currently 4,450 Palestinian political prisoners in Israeli prisons and detention centers. This number includes approximately 530 Palestinians placed under “administrative detention”, that allows the detention of Palestinians without charge or trial for renewable intervals ranging between three and six months based on undisclosed evidence that even a detainee’s lawyer is barred from viewing. Mass arrest of Palestinians is nothing new. According to a 2017 report by Addameer, over the past 50 years, more than 800,000 Palestinians have been imprisoned or detained by Israel, this figure is now believed to be closer to 1 million. This means that about 40% of Palestinian men and boys living under military occupation have been deprived of their freedom. Almost every Palestinian family has suffered the imprisonment of a loved one. K.F. - [Ref] - [Visit This Page]

Israeli forces target farmers near Gaza
GAZA, Thursday, May 26, 2022 (WAFA) – Israeli forces Thursday morning targeted Palestinian farmers to the east of the city of Khan Younis in the southern besieged Gaza Strip, according to WAFA correspondent. He said that the Israeli soldiers stationed at the military towers along Gaza’s eastern frontier, east of the city, opened heavy gunfire, tear gas bombs and stun grenades towards farmers who were tending their crops to the east of Khuza‘a town, forcing them to flee for their safety. Meanwhile, the heavily-armed soldiers opened heavy machine gunfire towards farmers tending their cultivated land to the east of Deir al-Balah city as well as al-Maghazi and al-Bureij refugee camps, forcing them to leave. No injuries were reported in the cross-border attack. Fourteen years following the Israeli “disengagement” from Gaza, Israel has not actually disengaged from Gaza; it still maintains control of its land borders, access to the sea and airspace. Two million Palestinians live the Gaza Strip, which has been subjected to a punishing and crippling Israeli blockade for 12 years and repeated onslaughts that have heavily damaged much of the enclave’s infrastructure. Gaza’s 2-million population remains under “remote control” occupation and a strict siege, which has destroyed the local economy, strangled Palestinian livelihoods, plunged them into unprecedented rates of unemployment and poverty, and cut off from the rest of the occupied Palestinian territories and the wider world. Gaza remains occupied territory, having no control over its borders, territorial waters or airspace. Meanwhile, Israel upholds very few of its responsibilities as the occupying power, failing to provide for the basic needs of Palestinian civilians living in the territory. Every two in three Palestinians in Gaza is a refugee from lands inside what is now Israel. That government forbids them from exercising their right to return as enshrined in international law because they are not Jews. K.T./ K.F. - [Ref] - [Visit This Page]

Israeli forces chase, shoot Palestinian workers in northern West Bank
JENIN, Thursday, May 26, 2022 (WAFA) – Israeli forces Thursday morning chased and shot Palestinian workers close to a cluster of villages, west and east of Jenin, according to local and security sources. They said that the heavily-armed soldiers stormed At-Tayba, ‘Anin, Faqqu‘a and Tura villages, and fired stun grenades, tear gas canisters and rubber-coated steel bullets towards workers as the latter were heading to their workplaces inside Israel, causing a number to suffocate from tear gas inhalation. Hundreds of Palestinians work in Israel without a permit and often police chase them and detain them before sending them back to the occupied West Bank where work is more scarce than in Israel and pay is much less. Israeli severely restricts Palestinians’ freedom of movement through a complex combination of approximately 100 fixed checkpoints, flying checkpoints, settler-only roads and various other physical obstructions. Israeli settlers assault and injure three Palestinians near Nablus
NABLUS, Thursday, May 26, 2022 (WAFA) – Three Palestinians today sustained injuries in an Israeli settler attack in the village of Burqa, northwest of the occupied West Bank city of Nablus, according to medical sources. Director of the Palestinian Red Crescent's (PRC) Emergency Department, Ahmad Jibril, told WAFA that PRC crews moved three Palestinians to the hospital following being brutally assaulted by Israeli settlers. A group of settlers hurled stones towards a few houses at the entrance of the village and a number of Palestinian commuters in the area, as reported by Ghassan Daghlas, who monitors settlement activities in the northern West Bank. He added that tension in the area is on the rise as Israeli settlers are rampaging under military protection. Settler violence against Palestinians and their property is routine in the West Bank and is rarely prosecuted by Israeli authorities. Settler violence includes property and mosque arsons, stone-throwing, uprooting of crops and olive trees, attacks on vulnerable homes, among others. BETHLEHEM, Thursday, May 26, 2022 (WAFA) – Israeli bulldozers today razed Palestinian-owned farmland in the area of Khallet al-Nahla, south of the occupied West Bank city of Bethlehem, according to local sources. He added that the area has been a regular target of the Israeli army and settlers’ attacks as a means to push its Palestinian residents out of their lands in order to take them over to expand the nearby illegal colonial settlement of Efrat. NABLUS, Friday, May 27, 2022 (WAFA) – Several Palestinians were injured by Israeli gunfire today during confrontations with the Israeli occupation forces in the villages of Huwwara, Beit Dajan and Beita in the occupied West Bank province of Nablus, according to medical sources. In Huwwara, south of Nablus, two Palestinians were injured by live shots in their feet and a third one hit by a stun grenade, and were moved to a nearby hospital for medical treatment, said the Palestinian Red Crescent (PRC). Other Palestinian protesters were pepper-sprayed by Israeli occupation forces in the village, including four children and an elderly man. They were treated at a local emergency center. Following the killing of a Palestinian child, the UK urges restrained in Israel’s use of live fire
LONDON, Saturday, May 28, 2022 (WAFA) – The United Kingdom today urged restraint in the Israeli army’s use of live fire against Palestinians in the occupied territories. The call came after Israeli soldiers yesterday shot and killed 14-year-old Zaid Ghuneim in the town of al-Khader, south of Bethlehem, the fifth child shot and killed by the unrestrained Israeli army gunfire this month and the 13th since the start of this year. The UK also called on the Israeli authorities “to conduct a swift, transparent and independent investigation” into the killing of Ghuneim. The Israeli prime minister has eased restrictions on his army’s use of live fire against Palestinians in the occupied territories, which resulted in a large number of Palestinians being shot and killed this year by Israeli soldiers, a number that has exceeded 50 so far. Israeli forces detain nine Palestinians from West Bank
RAMALLAH, Friday, May 20, 2022 (WAFA) – Israeli forces Friday overnight and Thursday evening detained at least nine Palestinians from various parts of the West Bank, according to local and security sources. They said that Israeli forces rounded up two Palestinians from Ni‘lin village, west of Ramallah city. The heavily-armed soldiers rounded up three others, including two brothers, and ransacked their houses in al-Midya village, west of the city, turning them upside down. In Jerusalem, police detained another from the vicinity of the Council Gate, known in Arabic as Bab al-Majlis. In the northern West Bank, Israeli forces barged their way into Nur Shams refugee camp, east of Tulkarm, and rounded up another. In the southern West Bank, gun-toting soldiers showed up at a house in al-Shalala Street in downtown Hebron, muscled inside, assaulted the family members and eventually detained the owner. They also arrested another from the southern part of the city, forcibly entered his parents’ house and thoroughly searched it. K.F. - [Ref] - [Visit This Page]

Israeli forces seize makeshift dwelling of two families south of Hebron
HEBRON, Friday, May 20, 2022 (WAFA) – Israeli forces Thursday evening seized the makeshift dwellings of two families in Masafer Yatta, south of Hebron, according to a local activist. Rateb al-Jbour said that several military vehicles stormed al-Markez community, where soldiers dragged the 12-member family of Mahmoud Ali Najjar out of their makeshift dwellings into the open and eventually confiscated the dwellings. He added that Israeli forces had razed the house of the Najjar family on May 11. Al-Markez is one of 12 hamlets making up the Masafer Yatta, which rely heavily on animal husbandry as the main source of livelihood. Israel’s High Court recently ruled in favor of the forcible displacement of some 1,300 Palestinians living in twelve villages or hamlets, marking one of the largest expulsions carried out by the State of Israel in recent decades. The court’s move effectively leads to the confiscation of over 35,000 dunam of land, where agricultural communities have lived for generations, to consolidate colonial settlement construction in the area. Located in Area C of the West Bank, under full Israeli administrative and military control, the area has been subjected to repeated Israeli violations by settlers and soldiers targeting their main source of living - livestock. It has been designated as a closed Israeli military zone for training since 1980s and accordingly referred to as Firing Zone 918. Israeli violations against the area include demolition of animal barns, homes and residential structures. Issuance of construction permits by Israel to local Palestinians in the area is non-existent. Israeli settlers continue to raze Palestinian land in northern Jordan Valley
JORDAN VALLEY, Friday, May 20, 2022 (WAFA) – For almost a month, Israeli settlers have been razing Palestinian farmlands in Khirbet al-Farisiya in the northern Jordan Valley, according to a local human rights activist. Aref Daraghmeh said that the settlers’ bulldozers continued to level large tract of farmlands belonging to the villagers as a prelude to seize them and build infrastructure, including a school, as part of the expansion of the encroaching colonial settlement of Sal'it. He warned that settler activities in the area serve as the first step towards the displacement of the indigenous Palestinian population. The Jordan Valley, which is a fertile strip of land running west along the Jordan River, is home to about 65,000 Palestinians and makes up approximately 30% of the West Bank. Since 1967, when the Israeli army occupied the West Bank, Israel has transferred at least 11,000 of its Jewish citizens to the Jordan Valley. Some of the settlements in which they live were built almost entirely on private Palestinian land. The Israel military has also designated about 46 percent of the Jordan Valley as a closed military zone since the beginning of the occupation in June 1967, and has been utilizing the pretext of military drills to forcefully displace Palestinian families living there as part of a policy of ethnic cleansing and stifling Palestinian development in the area. Approximately 6,200 Palestinians live in 38 communities in places earmarked for military use and have had to obtain permission from the Israeli authorities to enter and live in their communities. In violation of international law, the Israeli military not only temporarily displaces the communities on a regular basis, but also confiscates their farmlands, demolishes their homes and infrastructure from time to time. Besides undergoing temporary displacement, the Palestinian families living there face a myriad restrictions on access to resources and services. Meanwhile, Israel exploits the resources of the area and generates profit by allocating generous tracts of land and water resources for the benefit of settlers. Israeli politicians have made it clear on several occasions that the highly strategic Jordan Valley would remain under their control in any eventuality. K.F. - [Ref] - [Visit This Page]

Occupation forces injure 4 Palestinians in Kafr Qaddum

All of the injured protesters were treated at the scene of the clashes. For many years, villagers from Kafr Qaddum and neighboring villages have been protesting every Friday against illegal Israeli settlement construction. Between 500,000 and 600,000 Israelis live in Jewish-only settlements across the occupied Palestinian Territories in violation of international law. M.N - [Ref] - [Visit This Page]

RAMALLAH, Friday, May 20, 2022 (WAFA) – US Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez said today that the Israeli occupation’s military killed Al Jazeera journalist Shireen Abu Akleh with US funding. "I think it's really important for us to have eyes on what happened with Shireen Abu Akleh in Palestine, she was killed by Israeli forces — A venerated journalist, a US citizen," said Ocasio-Cortez in an early Friday morning Instagram video. "We can't allow this stuff to be happening with our resources." She continued, "Our tax dollars are a part of this...we can't even get healthcare in the US, and we're funding this. There has to be some sort of line that we draw." She also pointed out that "an entire media building bombed last year — That can't be happening without our consent," referring to the al-Jalaa tower that housed Associated Press and Al Jazeera, which was levelled to the ground by Israeli warplanes during the Israeli aggression on Gaza in May 2021. Gaza fishermen, farmers come under Israeli gunfire
GAZA, Saturday, May 21, 2022 (WAFA) – Fishermen and farmers in the Gaza Strip today came under Israeli gunfire forcing them to leave their areas seeking safety, reported WAFA correspondent. He said that Israeli soldiers stationed at a military watchtower east of Gaza City opened gunfire and fired tear gas canisters at farmers working in their lands forcing them to leave the area. In Khan Younis in the south of the Gaza Strip, soldiers opened fire at shepherds east of al-Qarara town, who also had to leave the area to avoid being hit. Israeli navy boats also opened fire at fishermen sailing in the south of the Gaza Strip forcing them to leave the area and return to shore. No one was reported injured in any of the incidents. Israel does not allow landowners and shepherds to be in the open pastures and lands near the border fence and tries to create a buffer zone at the expense of the Gaza lands. Fishermen also are not allowed to go deeper than six nautical miles into the sea in the south of the Gaza Strip and only three nautical miles in the north. But even then, fishermen are still attacked even if they stay within their marked zones. The Gaza Strip has been under tight Israeli sea, land and air siege since 2005. Israel controls everything that enters or leaves the Gaza Strip. M.K. - [Ref] - [Visit This Page]

In punishment for hoisting Palestinian flags, Israel blocks all access roads except one to a West Bank town
NABLUS, Saturday, May 21, 2022 (WAFA) – The Israeli military blocked six out of seven access roads to the town of Hawwara, south of the northern West Bank city of Nablus, as a punishment for hoisting Palestinian flags, according to a local official. Ghassan Daghlas, who monitors Israeli settlement activities in the north of the West Bank, said the six roads connect Hawwara to nearby towns and villages. Only one access road, the main one used also by Jewish settlers, was kept open. The Israeli step came after residents kept hoisting the Palestinian flag in the town despite attempts by soldiers and settlers alike to remove them and replace them with Israeli flags. Occupation forces attack Palestinian workers near Jenin
JENIN, Sunday, May 22, 2022 (WAFA) – Israeli occupation forces today attacked scores of Palestinian workers near the Israeli segregation barrier outside the villages of Anin, Rummana and Zububa, to the west of Jenin in the north of the West Bank, as the latter were heading to their workplaces inside Israel, according to Palestinian security sources. Soldiers reportedly chased the workers and attacked them using teargas, causing many cases of suffocation from gas inhalation among the workers. Palestinian workers in the occupied West Bank usually opt for alternative routes to avoid overcrowding at major Israeli checkpoints in their daily journey to their workplaces inside Israel, and are often attacked by Israeli soldiers whenever they try to cross the Israeli segregation barrier. Meantime in the district of Bethlehem, south of the West Bank, a Palestinian young man was injured by a live shot fired by Israeli occupation soldiers during confrontations that broke out in the village of Al-Khader. Two Palestinian detainees remain on hunger strike for 81, 46 days in a row
RAMALLAH, Sunday, May 22, 2022 (WAFA) – Two Palestinian administrative detainees in Israeli prisons are currently on hunger strike for 81 and 46 days in a row in protest of their unfair administrative detention without a charge or trial, according to the Detainees Affairs Commission. Khalil Awawdeh, 40, from the town of Idna, in the southern West Bank Hebron district, has been on hunger strike for 81 days in protest of his prolonged administrative detention without charge or trial. He is reported to be suffering from headaches, fatigue, pain in the joints, irregular heartbeats, frequent vomiting and significant loss of weight after 58 days of hunger strike. The other prisoner, Ra’ed Rayyan, 27, from the village of Bayt Duqu in the West Bank province of Jerusalem, has been on hunger strike for 46 days demanding termination of his detention without charge or trial. Rayyan is said to be suffering from constant headaches and join pains, severe bodily fatigue, continuous vomiting and inability to move without a wheelchair. Israel’s widely condemned policy of administrative detention allows the detention of Palestinians without charge or trial for renewable intervals usually ranging between three and six months based on undisclosed evidence that even a detainee’s lawyer is barred from viewing. Currently, Israel is holding over 500 Palestinians in administrative detention, deemed illegal by international law, most of them former prisoners who spent years in prison for their resistance of the Israeli occupation. Over the years, Israel has placed thousands of Palestinians in administrative detention for prolonged periods of time, without trying them, without informing them of the charges against them, and without allowing them or their counsel to examine the evidence. Amnesty International, has described Israel's administrative detention policy as a “cruel, unjust practice which helps maintain Israel’s system of apartheid against Palestinians.” M.N - [Ref] - [Visit This Page]

Occupation forces detain eight Palestinians in West Bank
RAMALLAH, Sunday, May 22, 2022 (WAFA) – Israeli occupation forces last night arrested eight Palestinians during raids in the occupied West Bank provinces of Ramallah, Bethlehem and Nablus, according to local and Palestinian security sources. In Ramallah, in the center of the West Bank, an Israeli army force stormed the village of Silwad and arrested four Palestinians, who ranged in age between 19 and 45 years old. A fifth Palestinian was arrested in an Israeli raid of the nearby village of Ras Karkar. In Bethlehem province, south of the West Bank, Israeli occupation forces stormed the town of Beit Fajjar, where they arrested two Palestinians (22 and 23 years old) after raiding and searching their homes. In Nablus, north of the territory, a Palestinian was arrested by Israeli occupation soldiers who stormed his home in Al-ein refugee camp. Almost on a daily basis, Israeli occupation forces carry out raids targeting populated Palestinian communities for arrests or searches. The practice, mostly carried out at nighttime, has become a routine under Israeli military regime. M.N - [Ref] - [Visit This Page]

Scores of Israeli settlers break into Jerusalem’s Al-Aqsa
JERUSALEM, Sunday, May 22, 2022 (WAFA) – Scores of Israeli settlers escorted by Israeli police broke today into the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound in occupied Jerusalem and performed rituals across its courtyards, according to witnesses. WAFA correspondent said scores of Israeli settlers entered the holy site in groups and performed rituals and Talmudic prayers there under the protection of Israeli police officers. This comes amid calls by Zionist nationalists upon their fans to hold a flag-waving march inside the holy compound on May 29 marking the anniversary of Israel’s occupation of East Jerusalem. Bentzi Gopstein, a radical Israeli far-right politician, has urged settlers to take part in the provocative march on May 29, and said the move will mark the beginning of “the destruction of the Dome of the Rock”. The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement today that Israel's sense of impunity was encouraging it to escalate its aggression against Jerusalem and its holy sites. “The Israeli flag-waving march and the accompanying incitement campaigns are an integral part of the occupation's projects to fully Judaize the Holy City and impose Israeli sovereignty over it,” said the Ministry in a statement, which held Israel responsible for all of the possible consequences of the provocative march. The latest development comes after nearly month-long tensions fueled by increased presence by hardcore Israeli settlers inside the holy site during the past Muslim holy month of Ramadan. Jerusalem's Islamic Waqf has repeatedly described the settlers' presence in Al-Aqsa Mosque as "provocative", and said that Palestinian worshippers and guards at Al-Aqsa feel uncomfortable with the presence of Israeli police and settlers touring the Islamic holy site. Israel captured East Jerusalem, where Al-Aqsa Mosque is located, during the Six-Day War in 1967 in a move never recognized by the international community. M.N - [Ref] - [Visit This Page]

HEBRON, Sunday, May 22, 2022 (WAFA) – Israeli settlers today removed and robbed a Palestinian-owned tent in Khirbet Martaba, a village located east of the town of Yatta in the southern West Bank province of Hebron, according to local sources. Fo’ad Emour, a local Palestinian official in charge of the Israeli settlement file in the area, told WAFA that a group of Israeli settlers from the illegal settlement of Maon, nearby, stormed the village and robbed a tent belonging to Mahmoud Daies, a local Palestinian resident. He added that the attacking settlers also vandalized the fence of a sheep barn belonging to another Palestinian from the village. Israeli settler violence against Palestinians and their property is commonplace across the West Bank and is rarely prosecuted by Israeli occupation authorities. There are over 600,000 Israeli settlers living in colonial settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem in violation of international law and consensus. M.N - [Ref] - [Visit This Page]

The five prisoners are Mahmoud Arda, 46, Mohammad Arda, 40, Yaaqob Qadri, 49, Ayham Kamamji, 35, and Munadel Nufeiat, 26. Meanwhile, the sixth prison, Zakaria Zubeidi, is said to be waiting an Israeli ruling into his case separately. UPDATE: Israeli settlers attempt to kidnap Palestinian minor in Nablus, Palestinians injured in clashes with Israeli army
NABLUS, Sunday, May 22, 2022 (WAFA) – A number of Israeli settlers today evening attempted to kidnap a Palestinian minor after attacking him in the village of Qasra, south of Nablus, according to security sources. Sources told WAFA that a number of settlers raided the village of Qasra and attacked two minors, injuring one of them in the head, which necessitated his transfer to hospital for treatment. Settlers also attempted to kidnap the other minor, however, he managed to escape. Israeli forces reportedly stormed the village to provide protection to the settlers, leading to clashes. WAFA correspondent said that four people sustained burn injuries, and at least 18 others were injured after being shot with rubber-coated steel bullets fired by the army. Dozens also suffocated after inhaling tear gas used by the army against the village residents. Settler violence against Palestinians and their property is routine in the West Bank and is rarely prosecuted by Israeli authorities. Settlement is a war crime according to the 1998 Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court. The presence of settlers in the Palestinian territories violates the basic principles of international humanitarian law, said Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor. “As they are responsible for settler violence, the Israeli authorities should put an end to double standards in dealing with events in the Palestinian territories and discourage settler violence by not protecting it,” it said. Israeli court’s ruling allowing Jewish prayers at Al-Aqsa Mosque draws wide condemnation and warnings
RAMALLAH, Monday, May 23, 2022 (WAFA) – A ruling by the Israeli Magistrate’s Court in Jerusalem allowing certain Jewish prayer at Al-Aqsa Mosque, a purely Muslim holy site located in Jerusalem’s old city, has drawn strong condemnation at home and abroad and warning of serious consequences. The Palestinian presidency warned in a statement against the decision of the Israeli court’s ruling considering it a serious violation of the existing historical status quo in Al-Haram Al-Sharif, which includes Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Dome of the Rock, and flagrant defiance of international law and United Nations resolutions. The presidency also warned against allowing the provocative Israeli “flags march” to take place in occupied Jerusalem on May 29. The presidency called on the US administration to immediately intervene to stop the Israeli assaults on the Palestinian people and their holy places. It also called on the Palestinian people to confront these assaults, stressing that Jerusalem, with its Christian and Muslim citizens and their holy places, will remain the eternal capital of the State of Palestine. The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates also strongly condemned the decision of the Magistrate’s Court allowing Jewish extremists to perform rituals and prayers inside the Muslim holy place, considering it an official Israeli coup against the status quo and changing it completely and an explicit declaration of religious war that threatens of an explosion in the entire region. The Ministry said the court’s ruling is new proof that the Israeli judiciary and court system in Israel is an integral part of the occupation regime and another evidence of providing legal cover for the incursions of Jewish extremists into the holy Al-Aqsa Mosque with the aim of consolidating its division. It said it holds the Israeli government fully and directly responsible for this decision and its serious consequences, calling on the international community, especially the US administration, for an immediate intervention to stop its implementation. Meanwhile, the Jordanian Foreign Ministry also issued a statement condemning the Israeli court’s ruling, saying this decision is null and void and has no legal weight as per international law which does not recognize Israel’s court jurisdiction over the Palestinian territories occupied in 1967, including East Jerusalem. Foreign Ministry spokesman Haitham Abu al-Fool stressed that the court’s decision is a flagrant violation of international resolutions on Jerusalem, including Security Council resolutions, all of which emphasize the need to preserve the status of the Holy City. The decision is a serious violation of the historical and legal status of the holy Al-Aqsa Mosque, said Abu al-Fool, stressing that Jordan, in accordance with international law, does not recognize the Israeli judiciary's authority over occupied Jerusalem. He warned against allowing Jewish extremists from violating the sanctity of Al-Aqsa Mosque, stressing that the Mosque, in its entire 144-dunum area, is a purely Muslim holy place and that the Waqf department, which is part of the Jordanian government, is the only legal party responsible for the affairs of the Mosque and who will be allowed to enter or visit it.
